This is kind of a corollary to Rule #1, in that the reason we all talk too much is we tend to say the same thing several times in different ways. And thatâs redundancy, saying the same thing in a different way. Itâs redundant. Because weâre saying the same thing.
This is not the kind of thing you want to wait and catch in the revision stage. Redundancy can easily be spotted (although not always as easily as in that previous paragraph) and eliminated as youâre writing, if youâre looking for it. Writing is not like talking to your kids; you only need to say it once.
